Firefighters believe a 41-year-old man who was killed in an early morning fire Wednesday had been smoking in bed.

Craig Polsen was alone in the trailer, at 61 Loyal Ave., when firefighters found him dead in the bedroom after getting a call from a deputy sheriff and neighbor who spotted smoke coming from the trailer around 3:30 a.m."It hadn't broken out into heavy flame," Battalion Chief Mike Veenendaal said. "The fire probably smoldered about an hour before we got the alarm."

The fire was contained to the bedroom. A cigarette is being blamed for starting the fire, which is still under investigation. Damage to the trailer was estimated at between $5,000 and $10,000.
