May is National Foot Health Month, and this year's theme is "Feet don't get any respect - you can remedy that."
Local podiatrist Dr. J. Scott MacKay says many people think feet are supposed to hurt. But that doesn't have to be so. From problems such as ingrown toenails to reconstructive surgery, podiatric medicine has made exciting advances that can relieve that hurt.To help promote National Foot Health month, MacKay is offering free foot and ankle examinations at his Holladay office during the month of May.
The American Podiatric Medical Association provides a toll-free telephone number, 1-800-FOOTCARE.
Frank J. Malouff, executive director of the association, said foot problems are frequently problems of aging.
