Jens Robert Winberg, 94, died May 6, 1991 in a Salt Lake care center.
He was born April 10, 1897 in Ostersund, Sweden to Henning and Emma Olander Winberg. He married Gertrude Marie Bohman August 23, 1923 in Salt Lake City; later solemnized December 13, 1923 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died December 28, 1981. Jens arrived in the U.S. December 30, 1903 from Sweden and received his citizenship on May 7, 1934. He was a veteran of World War I, serving in the U.S. Army. He lived in Monroe most of his life and was a member of the Monroe North Ward High Priest Group in the LDS Church. He was employed as a teller in a Salt Lake City bank for a short time and at Richfield Commercial and Savings Bank in Richfield for many years. Jens was a warm and friendly man devoted to his family and friends. His hobbies were music, fishing and camping. He will be greatly missed by all.Survived by his daughter-in-law, Claudene Winberg, West Valley City; two grandsons, one granddaughter, Cary Winberg, Steven Winberg and Vicky Gibson, all of Salt Lake City; six great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, four sisters-in-law, Helma Larsen, Ethel Bohman, Proctor and Beth Bohman, Dale and Avelin Bennion, all of Salt Lake City; preceded in death by a son, Robert Winberg on December 10, 1984.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 10, 1991 at 1 p.m. in the Neal S. Magleby and Sons Mortuary Chapel, 50 South 100 West, Richfield. Friends may call at the Magleby Mortuary, Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Burial with military rites by the Monroe American Legion Post #37 in the Monroe City Cemetery.
