Glenn Thomas Simmons, age 96, died May 5, 1991 in Tempe, Arizona.
He was born September 19, 1894, in Payson, Utah, a son of Nathan Lee and Amy Daniels Simmons. He married Lucille Wightman, December 10, 1917, in Salt Lake City, Utah; she preceded him in death January 10, 1963. He graduated from BYU in 1922, winning the Anderburg All Around Athletic Award. He also graduated from the University of Southern California with a M.S. degree in 1940. He was head coach for 26 years at Provo High School and teacher for 39 years. He took their basketball team to state for 21 years, winning three state tournaments 1941-1944-1945 and took regional championship for 16 years.He is survived by his three daughters, Mrs. John (Bette) Owens, Mesa, Arizona; Geraldine Ingersoll, Cupertino, California; Mrs. Keith (Shari) Oldroyd, San Jose, California; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Nelda Christensen, Spanish Fork.
Graveside services will be held Friday, May 10, 1991, 2 p.m., Provo City Cemetery, 610 South State, Provo. Friends may meet at the cemetery. Berg Mortuary.
