State licensing regulators have issued an emergency suspension of the drug dispensing license of a Provo pharmacist.

Glen Albert Thomas was on a two-year licensing probation when he tested positive for drugs that were not prescribed by a physician, according to a petition attached to the order of immediate suspension.Thomas tested positive four times during random drug screenings, the petition said, and failed to provide adequate urine samples for three other screenings since being placed on probation in July.

For violating his probation, the petition said, Thomas faces revocation, suspension or other sanctions against his licenses to practice as a pharmacist and dispense controlled substances.

A hearing on the emergency suspension, issued Friday by the state Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing, had not been scheduled as of Monday.
