Emergency centers in Tooele, Salt Lake and Utah counties will be activated for five days next month to test their response to a mock accident involving the disposal of Tooele Army Depot chemical munitions.

The Army will kick off the June 10-14 exercise by announcing an event, such as an earthquake that releases a plume of blister or nerve agents from the depot 40 miles southwest of Salt Lake City."While the chance of anything happening is very, very remote, we prepare for the worst," said Leo Coonradt, manager of the Utah Department of Public Safety's Comprehensive Emergency Management.
