In separate cases, the state Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing has imposed fines on five Salt Lake County men accused of construction contracting without a license.

- Semisi J. Vakapuna, Salt Lake City, was fined $1,000 for misrepresenting himself as a licensed contractor while submitting a bid to build a concrete patio and porch, an order said. The customer wasn't satisfied with the work, but Vakapuna did not correct the problems, an order said.- David Wood, West Valley City, was fined $500. He misrepresenting himself as an employee of a licensed contractor to win a subcontracting job, an order said.

- Ron Glispy, Kearns, was fined $100 for not having a contractor's license when he advertised himself as a licensed contractor and submitted a bid and performed work on a landscaping project requiring a license, an order said.

- James Gonzales, Sandy, was fined $200 for submitting a bid for construction work and performing the work without a license, an order said.

- Leo Dan Kiemel, Salt Lake City, was fined $250 for not having a contractor's license when he advertised himself as licensed contractor and submitting bids and performing landscaping work requiring a license. An order said Kiemel failed to complete three of the four projects for which he submitted bids.
