Zelda Kate Kirkham, age 96, passed away May 5, 1991 in Salt Lake City.

Born May 31, 1894 in Lehi, Utah to James Mercer and Kate Woodhouse Kirkham. She did not marry, but remained fiercely independent all her life.She filled a mission for the LDS Church to the Northwestern States and attended BYU and USAC in Logan. She was known for her outstanding voice and participated in many plays, operas and dancing. She was also active in playing tennis. While attending college she took over her fathers farm paper and ran it entirely while he was ill.

She lived in Burlingame, California for a number of years. In recent years she was employed by Premium Oil Company where she worked until she was 75 years of age.

She traveled extensively from coast to coast in the United States and five trips to Europe, including all countries, five trips to Mexico and trips to Cuba, Africa, Egypt, Greece and many places in the Orient.

Survived by three brothers and a sister: Elbert C. Kirkham and his wife Emma, Salt Lake City; Alden J. Kirkham, Bountiful; ElMoine W. Kirkham and his wife LaPreal, Salt Lake City and Mrs. Bessie K. Lemon, Logan, Utah. Many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by brothers and sisters: Martha K. Jones, James Arno Kirkham, Alice Emma Kirkham and E. Kay Kirkham.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, May 8, 1991, 12 Noon in the Lehi, Utah City Cemetery. Friends may call at the Larkin Mortuary 260 East South Temple Tuesday 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday 10 to 11 a.m.
