Henry White fought off a host of challengers to win the Spanish Oaks Open Sunday at the Spanish Oaks Golf Course.
White fired a final-round 70 to finish at 138, one stroke ahead of four golfers, Lynn Landgren, Mike Malaska, Scott Brandt and amateur Brad Sutterfield."I've never played well here, but this year I played the course a lot differently," said White, an assistant pro at Mulligans in Ogden. "I played more in control with irons off the tee and then tried to hit my wedges close."
White was tied with Landgren after 16 holes Sunday, but went ahead with a 20-foot birdie putt at the 158-yard par-3 17th hole. He earned $1,400 with the win.
Sutterfield, a BYU redshirt golfer, had the best round of the day, a 65, to edge Y. teammate John Johnson by one for low amateur honor.
