Irene Rollins Platts, age 96, died Friday, May 3, 1991 at Dixie Regional Medical Center.
She was born September 27, 1894 at Minersville, Utah Territory a daughter of James Watson and Harriet Ann Eyre Rollins. Married John L. Platts on November 12, 1913, Salt Lake LDS Temple. He preceded her in death November 12, 1980. Reared and educated in Lyman, Wyoming, Mrs. Platts moved to St. George in 1975. An active member of the LDS Church, she had served as a teacher in the Sunday School and was Relief Society president. She was also a member of the Athenian Club. She was the mother of 17 children - eight preceded her in death.Surviving family members included three sons and six daughters, H. Melvin Platts and M. Lamond Platts, both of Lyman; Hal Platts, Duarte, California; Mrs. Bill "Essie" Shelton, St. George; Mrs. Don "Nyda" Porter, Provo, Utah; Lola Flowers, St. George; Mrs. Jim "Norma" Thynne, Phoenix, Arizona; Mrs. Fred "Renee" Hofer, Hemmett, California; and Mrs. Bill "Evelyn" Ritchie, St. George. Also, 55 grandchildren, 132 great-grandchildren, 21 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers and one sister, Leon Rollins, Porter Rollins, and Mrs. Evelyn Syme, all of Lyman.
Funeral services on Monday, May 6th, at 1 PM, Lyman (Wyoming) LDS Stake Center where friends may call 11:30 AM - 12:45 PM prior to services. Interment will be in the Lyman City Cemetery under the direction of Larkin Mortuary.
