Russell Thompson Bateman, age 70, died Thursday, May 2, 1991 at the Brigham City Community Hospital.

Born June 27, 1920 in Bloomington, Idaho, a son of William Henry and Vesta Thompson Bateman. He married Gladys Eliza Dowdle, April 4, 1940 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, they were later divorced. The four children from this marriage are; Russell Merlin, Marie, Ruth, and June. He later married Vaudiss Manson, was later divorced. Married Norma Hart, she later died. He married Icy Gale Miller Harris, September 10, 1982 in Las Vegas, Nevada, she died March 19, 1991. He was educated in Bloomington Elementary and attended Fielding High School in Paris, Idaho. He had been a farmer in Paris, Idaho for numerous years. He worked as a welder in the ship yards in Washibo, Washington during World War II. He worked at Geneva Steel in Provo. He was a police officer for the Murray City Police and worked as a carpenter in Las Vegas, Nevada for many years. He moved to Brigham City in 1986.Survived by one step-son, Charles Hart, 15 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, four brothers and sisters, Grant and Hilma Bateman, of Bloomington, Idaho; Mrs. Art (Ruby) Michalicek, of Syracuse; Jenny Heins, Logan; Mrs. Frank (Betty) Talbot, of Brigham City.

Funeral services, Thursday, 1 p.m. at the Bloomington LDS Ward in Paris, Idaho. Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Olson Meyers Mortuary, 205 So. 100 East, in Brigham City, and at the church Thursday from noon until 12:45 p.m. Interment, Bloomington Idaho Cemetery.
