About 400 members of the Utah Army National Guard's 144th Evacuation Hospital from Saudi Arabia were scheduled to arrive at Fort Carson, Colo., Monday morning, one day later than expected.
Meanwhile, the 419th Transportation Company arrived Sunday at Fort Lewis, Wash. Following processing, the unit is expected to arrive in Utah on Tuesday. The 419th was activated last November and served in Saudi Arabia during Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm.The 144th Evacuation Hospital, one of the first Utah units to be deployed in Operation Desert Shield, was due back from Saudi Arabia on Sunday, but its return was postponed without explanation.
Lt. Col. Bob Nelson, the Guard's public affairs officer, said the 144th should be back in Utah by the end of the week.
