Benedict Andrew Kirsling Sr., age 71, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 1991, in the Salt Lake V.A. Hospital.
Born February 4, 1920 in Hibbing, Minnesota, to Neuphry L. and Annasticia Kirsling. Married Julia Margaret Ferguson September 19, 1950 and was also a very devout Catholic. Ben mastered his first challenge by leading the Championship Swimming Team at Hibbing High School, Minn. He served in the U.S.Army in 1942 and left the service with an Honorable Discharge. He began his lifelong career in selling, by selling Vanilla Extract door to door during the Great Depression. Always very successful at the art of selling, Ben mastered the art of selling automobiles, and received a solid gold lapel pin at the Nash Sales Honor Club Convention, which he was made a member on June 1, 1950 in Casper, Wyoming. Moved to Salt Lake in 1953.In 1953 he entered the Life Insurance industry and was the first man in the state of Utah to achieve the Million Dollar Round Table Award. Ben was a very respected and honorable Insurance General Agent, and is missed by all that knew and loved him.
He is survived by his oldest and beloved sister Margaret, Minnesota; brother, Robert, California; children, Benedict A. Jr. (Beans); Louie J. (Cruddy Lud); Katherine M. Wendell (Poopalina); Charles E. (Chink); step-children: Michael J. Pyper; Patricia J. Clarke; Robert R. Pyper; 27 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday, 9 a.m., May 4, 1991 at St. Vincent Catholic Church, 1375 E. Spring Lane (5000 So.). Friends may call at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Drive, Friday 6-7 p.m. Holy rosary will be recited Friday, 7 p.m. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
