The Hurricane airport, closed since last fall due to an unsafe runway, and three other Utah airfields will undergo $1.2 million in improvements, the Utah Transportation Commission said.

Acting on a recommendation from the Utah Aeronautical Committee, the commission approved $234,000 to reconstruct the runway at Hurricane Airport. The public airfield will reopen in early summer.Salt Lake Airport II received $451,700 for a shoulder stabilization and lighting project. And Brigham City Airport was approved for $64,000 in land acquisition, easements and wetland mitigation.
