Police in Arlington, Texas, credit a busload of camera-toting Japanese tourists with solving an armored car robbery.
Police said the 23 touring businessmen were taking pictures in a parking lot of a store Wednesday morning when they saw a man with a gun running to a car. Police say he was one of two people who robbed $16,900 from an armored car nearby.None of the tourists spoke English well enough to tell officers what happened, but the pictures spoke for themselves, said police spokesman Dee Anderson.
There were no photographs of the robbery itself, but there were shots of the getaway car and its license plate. Police traced the car and arrested two teenagers, who were in custody Thursday, Anderson said.
"It's like something out of `Columbo,' " Anderson said. "This kind of stuff only happens in movies."
