A family's last day in a crime-ridden neighborhood before moving to suburban Cleveland Heights was marked by the theft of a moving truck containing most of their belongings.

As of Friday there was no sign of the truck or its contents, which were valued at more than $6,800.It was stolen Wednesday evening as Vitner Bennett and his future son-in-law were loading a clothes dryer into the truck. The thief drove away and the men jumped out of the truck.

Donna Norman-Bennett said a man walked by and said hello as her husband and future son-in-law were loading the dryer. She said she was standing on the passenger's side of the truck when it began moving. "I thought the brakes went or something," she said.

She then realized that the stranger was driving the truck away.
