Two Utah female tennis players, three female and three male tracksters and one male tennis player from BYU have earned All-WAC Academic first-team honors.

On the 10-member women's track first team are BYU's Laura Zaugg, Syracuse, a graduate student in organizational behavior with a grade point average (GPA) of 3.67; senior Alisa Wise, Sandy, a physical education/sports major (3.58 GPA); and senior Sondra Gibb, Walnut Creek, Calif., a business education major (3.41 GPA).The trackmen are led by senior sprinter Frank Fredericks, a 10-time All-American who had a 3.25 grade point average in computer science. Other Cougars named to first-team honors were decathlete Jeff Ohwiler, 3.70 mechanical engineering; steeplechaser Chris Yorges, 3.71; and tennis player Wil Calhoun, 3.51 in English.

Utah's Julie Kempin and Susie Costa each made the first team in tennis. Kempin has a 3.04 in behavioral science and health, while Costa owns a 3.03 in civil engineering.
