Our beloved mother and grandmother, Helen Catherine Ray Renner, 83, died April 29, 1991, of heart failure.

She was born September 7, 1907 in Iola, Kansas to Smith David Ray and Annie Sullivan Ray. She was married to Leo M. Renner on May 12, 1928; their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on October 29, 1949. He preceded her in death on July 13, 1951. She attended college in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and taught school prior to her marriage. Before joining the LDS Church, she was active in Eastern Star where she was a worthy matron and president of the Beaucieant, president of the PTA for three years, and chaplain of the VFW Auxiliary for seven years. In 1948, she moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, with her family as converts to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1958, she received her degree from the University of Utah, and taught for 14 years in the Salt Lake School District.She is survived by five children: Edith (Warren) Hostetter, La Jara, Colorado; Anita Odle, Roberta (Robert) Moss, and Donna (William) Robinson, all of Salt Lake City; and Perry (Marie) Renner, Manassa, Colorado; 26 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and four children, Roger, Gordon, Ina and Wilbert David.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 4, 1991, at 1 p.m., in the MacKay Cottonwood Mortuary Chapel, 4670 South Highland Drive, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery. Funeral directors, MacKay Cottonwood Mortuary.
