Joan Rivers was surprised to hear that she's getting married. In taping the episode of her talk show that will air Monday, Rivers shot down the supermarket tabloid report that says she's planning to marry New York lawyer Bernard Goldberg.

She didn't address the question of whether she and Goldberg were dating but said there is no romance. "I do know this man," she says. "I bought my apartment from him and he's very nice, but that's where the truth stops."Rivers joked that Goldberg does "call me romantic names - like `plaintiff.' " Rivers has been a widow since her husband, Edgar Rosenberg, committed suicide in 1987 after years of bad health.
