A $100,000 gift from the Swanson Foundation could help the dream of a museum come true.
Emma Russell, who helped launch the Roy Historical Foundation five years ago, said the gift - established in memory of the late Dr. Walter Swanson of Roy - is a major one for the museum fund."They needed $120,000 and they had $20,000," said Roy City Manager Wayne Parker.
He said plans are to build the museum at Wahlen Park, but the city council has not approved the site selection.
Russell said the gift is, for her, the fulfillment of a dream.
In the past few years she has been suffering from cancer, and Russell said the museum has kept her alive.
The foundation honors Swanson, a podiatrist who practiced in Roy and Ogden. He died last year.
