Lela Jean Licht Batty, 50, died Tuesday, April 30,1991 at her Cache Valley home just eight months after having been diagnosed as having breast cancer.

She was born June 12, 1940 in Manila, Utah to Silver and Thelma Corless Licht. She married Joseph Clair Batty on July 3, 1959 in the Logan LDS Temple. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she was an active member of the LDS Church. She had been employed at Utah State University Bookstore as an Associate Manager of the Textbook Department.She is survived by her husband of North Logan, two daughters, a son and their spouses; Pam and Bruce Theurer, Beaverton, Oregon; Angie and Gary Norman, Logan; Greg and Ann Batty, also Logan. Also surviving is a foster son, Alvin Trujillo and seven grandchildren; two sisters and two brothers and their spouses; Lola and James Allred, Vernal; Jeanene Licht, Minot, North Dakota; Lynn and Roena Licht, Verna, and Lyle Licht, Bullhead City, Arizona; and a sister-in-law, Sevenna Licht, Brigham City. she is preceded in death by a sister, June and a brother, Melvin.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 3, 1991, at noon in the Hyde Park LDS Stake Center, 535 East 200 South, Hyde Park, with Bishop Edgar B. Tibbitts of the Hyde Park Second Ward conducting. Friends may call Thursday evening from 7-9 p.m. at Cranney Mortuary, 420 East 1800 No. in Logan and at the sake center Friday morning one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery.
