Brigham Young University President Rex E. Lee has been elected second vice president of the American Association of Presidents of Independent Colleges and Universities.

He will serve with David Davenport, president of the 157-member organization. Davenport is president of Pepperdine University.Former BYU presidents Dallin H. Oaks and Jeffrey R. Holland have served as presidents of the association, as has BYU Provost Bruce C. Hafen, who filled the position during his tenure as president of Ricks College.
