Five juvenile boys were charged with burglary after police caught them trying to break into the Clearfield city shops early Monday morning, according to Clearfield police.

The five, from Clearfield, Roy, Ogden and Clinton, were using bolt cutters and axes to try and break into the building, according to Lt. Steve Hill.They were apparently trying to steal the city's welding torches, which can be used to break into vending machines and coin boxes, Hill said.

The five were caught after police responded to an alarm at the building around 3:30 a.m. Monday.
