A canine good citizen test will be held Friday, May 3, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m, at the Willow Creek Dog Training Center, 7997 S. Highland Drive.

Both mixed-breed and purebred dogs are eligible to compete.Dogs, which will be tested on leash, will be judged in 10 areas: appearance and grooming; acceptance of strangers; walking on a loose leash; walking through a crowd; sitting for examination; sitting down on command; staying in position; reaction to other dogs; reaction to distractions; and being left alone. Grading will be on a pass/fail basis for each category.

Cost is $5, and the test, which will be conducted on groups of 10, will last about 20 minutes per session. Proceeds go to support the Gaines Cycle Western Regional Dog Obedience Championships in Salt Lake Aug. 10-11.
