Robert Alexander Faris, 67, of Spanish Fork, died Friday, April 26, 1991 in the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo.

He was born on May 30, 1923 in Deseret, Utah, the son of Robert William Faris and Elizabeth Ann Serene Johnson Faris. He married Arvilla Jensen on December 18, 1948 in the St. George Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.He graduated from Hinkley High School. He served in the United States Army during World War II and attended the army medical school. He attended numerous mechanical training courses and workshops. He was a farmer, meat cutter, and worked as a farm machinery mechanic.

He was a member of the LDS Church, was currently the first counselor in the High Priest Group and a stake auditor. He also served as ward and stake financial clerk, elders quorum secretary, and Scout Master. he served in the scouting organization for over 40 years in many various positions. He was an Eagle Scout and a Silver Beaver.

His hobbies include, trilobite digging and arrow head hunting, and he made jewelry out of his findings.

Survivors include his wife of Spanish Fork; three sons and three daughters, Mrs. Anthon (Susan R.) Jones, Delta; G. Paul Faris, Orem; Boyd K. Faris, Logan; Mrs. Elden (Melody Ann) Bishop, Hyrum; Mrs. John D. (Gwen E.) Anderson, Okinawa, Japan; Roger D. Faris, American Fork; 17 grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters, Joseph William Faris, Tooele; George K. Faris, Covina, Calif.; Mrs. Lee (Mary M.) Jones, Ivans; Mrs. Sam (Margaret Winona) Moore, Wheatland, California.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m., in the Spanish Fork Fourth Ward Chapel, 400 North 400 East, Spanish Fork. Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary, 187 South Main, Spanish Fork on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. or Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery, with military rites by the Spanish Fork American Legion.
