Clarence L. Jensen, 87, of Springville died Thursday, April 25, 1991, at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.
He was born September 3, 1903 in Salt Lake City to James B. and Susan C. Draper Jensen. He married R. LaPreal Brown, August 27, 1927 in Richfield; she died in 1936. He married Elda L. Blackburn, March 24, 1937 in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; she died October 1, 1990. He graduated from BYU. He was the first male Yell-Master at BY Academy, and was active in the church all of his life. He was a High Priest in the Springville 10th Ward, and held positions of Bishop and Counselor in Stake Presidency. He was editor of the 9th and 10th wards newsletters. He served as secretary and president of Springville Kiwanis Club. He was a railway postal clerk for over 30 years, assistant postmaster of the Provo Post Office, and postmaster at BYU Post Office for five years. He was also a school teacher and treasurer of the Springville Museum of Art. He and his wife filled a mission to the Louisiana, Baton Rouge Mission from 1977-79. He enjoyed acting and directing plays.He is survived by four daughters and two sons, Mrs. Donald (Marcella) Hume, Brigham City; Mrs. Val (Janice) Christensen, Springville; Mrs. Ray (Geraldine) Hubbard, Elko, Nevada; Mrs. Kline (Harriett) Blackham, Springville; Thomas L. Jensen, Roy; A. Clair Jensen, Oak Forest, Illinois; 22 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Clarence Lee Jensen, a daughter, Shirley Jensen and great-great-granddaughter, Andrea Tuttle.
Funeral services will be Monday, April 29, 1991, 11 a.m., Springville 10th Ward Chapel, 355 East Center. Friends may call Sunday 6-8 p.m. and Monday 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South. Burial will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
