The Utah State University Extension Service, Salt Lake County office, announces a series of timely spring classes:

"Using a Pressure Canner" will be Wednesday, May 1, at the County Government Center, 2001 S. State, at 11, noon, 5 or 6 p.m. The class includes free pressure canner testing, but advance reservations are required. Call 468-3170 to schedule an appointment.A series of food storage workshops will be Wednesday, May 15. A special two-hour program includes sessions entitled, "Cleaning Out Poor Quality," "Eliminating Pantry Pests" and "Cleaning Up Your Storage Areas." The sessions begin at 11:30 a.m. at the County Government Center, 2001 S. State.

Discussion of the revised dietary guidelines and their application to healthy eating habits will be presented by extension agent Joann Mortensen on Wednesday, May 8, at 1 p.m. at East Millcreek Library, 2266 Evergreen Ave.; Thursday, May 9, at 6:30 p.m. at Whitmore Library, 2197 E. 7000 South; and Wednesday, May 22, at 1 p.m., at Park Library, 4870 S. 2700 West.
