A former Boy Scout leader has been charged with sexually abusing two teenage boys at a Payson Canyon Scout camp.

According to 4th Circuit Court officials, Allen Washburn, 35, Orem, has been charged with two counts of forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison and a $10,000 fines for each count.Utah County Sheriff's Detective Scott Carter said Washburn is suspected of abusing two Scouts, ages 15 and 16, who were working on the staff of Camp Maple Dell, on Aug. 1. One of the boys' parents contacted the sheriff's department the next day, Carter said.

Washburn had been an executive for the Utah National Parks Council of the Boy Scouts of America since 1983. The council asked for his resignation on Aug. 3, and received it, Scouting officials said. They had no further comment on the case.

Washburn has been released on his own recognizance. A preliminary hearing is scheduled Sept. 26.
