The University of Utah won both games of a double-header against Air Force Sunday 11-6 and 9-8 to improve its record to 8-8 in the Western Athletic Conference and keep its hopes alive for one of four WAC playoff berths.

In the first game, Utah went ahead early scoring eight runs in the first inning. Mike Edwards hit a two-run home run in the first, his 16th on the season, to score the first runs for Utah. Shortstop Robert Castellano added a two-run home run in the third inning, his third homer of the year, and rightfielder Mike Aranzullo hit a solo home run in the sixth to seal the victory. Aranzullo's home run was his sixth of 1991.Matt Lipscomb pitched a complete game allowing six runs on ten hits to improve his record to 5-3.

A dramatic comeback in the second game of Sunday's double-header was once again sparked by Edwards. Trailing 4-0 entering the bottom of the third inning, Edwards came to bat with the bases loaded and hit his second home run of the day, a grand slam, to tie the game at four. For Edwards, the WAC leader in home runs, RBI's and batting average, it was the 17th homer of 1991.

The games were played in Helper, Utah due to the wet weather conditions in Salt Lake City.
