The United States moved into the medal round in the World Championships for the first time in six years, beating Finland 2-1 Sunday on a goal by Todd Krygier.

Krygier, of the Hartford Whalers, scored the go-ahead goal at 11:49 in the third period, blasting a slap shot from the left circle that went between the legs of Finnish goalie Markus Ketterer.The Soviet Union, Sweden and Canada qualified for the medal round earlier in the week.
