Martha Eliza Swapp Sargent, 85, died Wednesday, April 17, 1991, after an extended illness.
She was born September 10, 1905 in Hillside, Utah, the daughter of J. Benjamin Swapp and Elizabeth Merrill Swapp. She married Frank Moyle Sargent May 15, 1924 in Kanab, Utah; later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints having served as a temple worker in the Provo Temple and served a mission in the Ohio, Cincinnati Mission.
She worked as a nurses aide at the Utah State Hospital, The V.A. Hospital and with the Salt Lake Community Service.
She is survived by a son and three daughters, Merrill W. Sargent, West Valley; Mrs. Leo (Reva) Ferre, Provo; Mrs. Lesley (Alice) Esklund, Orem; Mrs. Lois Brown, Salt Lake City; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by brothers, Gordon B. Swapp, Provo; Burns J. Swapp, Salt Lake City; and sisters, Lorna Shumway, Kanab; and
Elfonda Water of Richfield. She was preceded in death by her husband and an infant son.
Graveside services will be held 12:30 p.m. Monday, April 22nd, at Redwood Memorial Estates. Friends may call at MacKay-Deseret Mortuary, 36 East 700 South, Salt Lake City, from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. Funeral directors, MacKay Deseret Mortuary.
