Carl Albert "Swede" Olson, age 71, died suddenly April 19, 1991 in Salt Lake City while golfing with friends.

He was born January 1, 1920 in San Francisco, California, son of Carl Albert Sr. and Anna Johannsson Olson. He graduated from Idaho State University with a B.S. in Pharmacy in 1941. He then moved to Bountiful from Wilder, Idaho. He owned and operated Bountiful Drug for 30 years where he met his bride La Vonn Keddington. They were married November 14, 1942 in Bountiful. He served as President of the Utah State Pharmacy Association and State Board of Pharmacy and National Association of Boards of Pharmacy.He received the Bowl of Hygeia Award. Served as Associated Professor of the University of Utah College of Pharmacy for 12 years. Received numerous awards and recognition for his outstanding service to pharmacy and to the city of Bountiful which community he loved.

He is survived by his wife La Vonn, Bountiful; daughters and their husbands: Karren and Richard Balderston, Bountiful; Carla and Monte Miles, Banida, Idaho; Sharren and Jim Trump, Bountiful; Mary Beth and Wally Kapp, Park City; 10 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild; brother Bill Robert and wife Edith Olson, Santa Rosa, California.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 23, 1991 at 12:00 noon in the Bountiful 34th Ward Chapel 540 North 1200 East. Friends may call Monday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary Chapel 295 North Main and Tuesday at the church 10:45 - 11:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment in the Bountiful City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to the American Diabetic Association 1660 Duke St., Alexandria, Virginia, 22314 or to the University of Utah College of Pharmacy Scholarship Fund, Salt Lake City, Utah 84112 in his name
