Vessa Hood Johnson, age 84, died peacefully April 19, 1991 at her daughters home of causes incident to age.

She was born September 9, 1906 in Salt Lake City to Peter Niel and Amy Tautz Reynolds Hood. She married John karl Johnson June 1, 1927 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died December 16, 1949. She graduated with high honors from Springfield High Schools, received her Bachelors degree from BYU in education. She was loved and respected as a first grade teacher at the Central and Rees schools in Spanish Fork for 30 years. She held several positions of service in her church and community. She was well known for beautiful tributes and teaching abilities. She served an LDS mission to Tempe, Arizona. In her spare time she took up oil painting and kept a beautiful home and yard.Survived by one son and four daugthers, Mrs. Paul (Mary) Bylund, Layton; Mrs. Jane Averett, Springville; Mrs. Rex (Lois) Shepherd, of Tooele; Mrs. Jerry (Lynette) Reynolds, Spanish Fork; Mr. John K. Johnson, Orem; one stepson, R. Dean Johnson, Spanish Fork; 28 grandchildren; 75 great-grandchildrenk; 19 great-great-grandchildren; five sisters and one brother, Steen Donaldson, Roy; Mrs. Emily Liddiard, Mrs. Amy Grover, both of Provo; Mrs. Wayne (Fanny) Grover, Midvale; Mrs. Mark (Carry) Hansen, Palmyra; Mrs. Calvin (Tina) Grover, Springville; Preceded in death by one daughter, Kay Johnson and two grandchildren; two brothers and a sister, Neil, George, and Mary Hood.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, 11 a.m., at the Spanish Fork 1st LDS Ward Chapel, 300 East Center Street. Friends may call Monday evening from 6-9 p.m. at the Huff-Linde Funeral Home, Spanish Fork, and Tuesay, one hour prior to services at the church. Burail, Spanish Fork City Cemetery.
