Davis County residents gave a total of $732,526 to the United Way of Davis County during the recently completed fund-raising campaign.
Of that total, $690,273 came from employers within the county, $12,853 came from the Combined Federal Campaign and $8,900 came from the State Charitable Fund Drive. Another $20,500 came from other United Way efforts in the county.This year's campaign elicited contributions from more than 8,000 county residents. The campaign committee consisted of 25 members and various companies made 34 executives available for the fund-raising effort.
Companies giving more than $10,000 in combined employee-employer donations included Albertsons Distribution Center, All American Gourmet, Allied Aftermarket, Borden Inc./Clover Club Foods, Chevron USA, Computer Science Corp., Clearfield Job Corps, Davis School District, Eaton-Kenway, General Dynamics, Hercules, J.C. Penney Telemarketing, Mountain Fuel Supply, Phillips 66, Smith's Food & Drug Center Inc., Thiokol and Utility Trailer.
Some 91 companies received gold awards for having at least 50 percent participation by employees and 45 companies received the Excellence Award for increasing contributions by at least 25 percent over the previous year.
