"Some people paint, some sew - I meddle," declares Dolly Gallagher Levi, setting the scene for one of America's most beloved musicals.

The Southern Utah University theater department is in the final stages of rehearsal for an extravaganza production of "Hello Dolly!" with a cast of 36 and a live orchestra in the Randall L. Jones Theatre Thursday through Saturday, May 2-4, and May 9-11."Hello Dolly!" by Michael Stewart with music and lyrics by Jerry Herman, is based on the play "The Matchmaker," by Thornton Wilder. It is the story of a "busybody" widow who ekes out a living as a matchmaker in the horse-and-buggy days of New York City at the turn of the century. Dolly is trying to pair up a rich Yonkers merchant with a widowed New York City milliner, but the story takes off when she double-crosses her client by scheming to marry Horace Vandergelder herself.
