Fred J. Heigel, age 50, died April 17, 1991 at his home after a long illness.
He was born in Rochester, New York to Amanda and Wilhelm Heigel. He married Vicki N. Champagne in Columbus, Ohio May 22, 1965. Mr. Heigel was the former Genral Manager of the Catawba Island Club, Port Clinton, Ohio, 1968-85, and owner of Anchors Away Marina in Marblehead, Ohio, The Community Food Services of Findley, Ohio; and Utah Pizza Service in Salt Lake City, Utah. He served on the Huntington National Bank Board of Directors for 10 years. He was a charter member of Citizens Awareness of Substance Abuse, and supporter of the Port Clinton Athletic Boosters.Survivors include his wife, Vicki N. Heigel, Port Clinton, Ohio; daughter, Jennifer and son Jonathan, both Port Clinton, Ohio; brother, William, Bath, New York; and his father, Wilhelm, Palm Harbor, Florida. He was preceded in death by his mother in 1968.
Services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, at St. John Lutheran Church, Port Clinton. Burial will be in Catawba Island Cemetery. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 Friday, at the Gerner & Wolf Funeral Home, Port Clinton, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Port Clinton City Schools, Board of Education, or the Catawba Island Volunteer Fire Dept.
