The Utah Women's Political Caucus' 19th annual Susa Young Gates Birthday Party and luncheon will be Saturday, June 15, at the Fort Douglas Country Club, 2 Medical Drive, Salt Lake City. The social hour will begin at 11 a.m. followed by lunch and the award ceremony at noon.

The Susa Young Gates party and awards program was initiated by the caucus in 1973 to honor women who have given outstanding service to women in Utah and demonstrated their dedication to the cause of human suffering. Gates, a daughter of Brigham Young, was a suffragette and an active worker in the service of Utah women.Sixty-two women have been honored by the Utah Women's Political Caucus, including members of the Legislature, Congress, a former presidential Cabinet member and a former Utah first lady.

Organizations, clubs and individuals are invited to submit women's names for the 1991 Susa Young Gates Award to the UWPC, in care of Frances Farley, 1418 Federal Way, Salt Lake City, UT 84102. All nominations must be postmarked no later than May 4. Each nomination must be accompanied by a cover letter stating why the nominee is qualified for the award plus a one-page resume and brief documentation of the nominee's contributions.

The Utah Women's Political Caucus is an affiliate of the National Women's Political Caucus. It is a bipartisan organization with the purpose of encouraging women to run for political office and to work for women candidates and women's issues.
