PAROWAN (AP) - The Iron County Commission has decided to accept US WEST's $88,395 bid to install the "911" emergency telephone service in the area.
The bid accepted by commissioners Thursday includes equipment, some installation, training and a warranty. Out of the three bidders, including Motorola and TSI, US WEST was the lowest bidder.
Commissioners also approved an option package that provides the address of the 911 emergency caller or victim automatically on the dispatcher's screen.
The option package, which makes tracking of the emergency scene's location almost instantaneous, increased the 911 package's cost to $91,000.
