Brigham Young University will sponsor a National Technology Workshop on Polymer Composites Thursday and Friday, May 16 and 17, at the BYU Conference Center.
The conference will include speakers, demonstrations and luncheons in an effort to help manufacturers of polymer composites find technological opportunities.Individual sessions will focus on case histories of product development and strategic planning. Speakers include Carl Johnson, head of structural composite research with Ford; Mike Alder, Department of Economic Development, State of Utah; and George Hartt, vice president of technology for GenCorp.
The National Institute of Standards and Technology selected Utah as the site for the workshop because of its high concentration of composite manufacturing industries.
Other sponsors of the conference include the Utah Department of Community and Economic Development, the Advanced Composite Manufacturing and Engineering Center and the University of Utah Experiment Stations.
