Junior Bounous has stepped down as head of the Snowbird Ski School and will take on less demanding responsibilities as the resort's director of skiing.
Bounous has been a familiar name in Utah skiing and has been ski school director at Snowbird since the resort opened 20 years ago. He was recently inducted into the Professional Ski Instructors of America Hall of Fame.Named new director of the Snowbird Ski School is Joe Waggoner, formerly director of the Breckenridge Ski School in Colorado.
Waggoner also served as director of the Bridger Bowl Ski School in Montana, and was an instructor at Sun Valley, White Pass in Washington and Spout Springs in Oregon. He was also a member of the PSIA demonstration team.
Snowbird central manger Kent Hoopingarner said Waggoner would take over ski school duties on June 1.
