Australian Rod Zuyderwyk of Washington State took a first day lead Thursday in the decathlon at the annual Clarence Robison Invitational. Weber State's Jim Stone is currently in second place with 3,457 points.

The 6-1 WSU sophomore leads all competitors after the first five events with a total of 4,002 points. Other scores were Steve Bulpitt, BYU, 3,287; Sam Garfield, Weber State, 3,027; Buzz Miller, Adams State, 2,968; Gene Barton, Adams State, 2,927; Jeremy Smith, BYU, 2,909; Kelly Murdock, BYU, 2,675; Kelly Jensen, BYU, 2,536; and Todd Simmons, Utah State, 1,645.
