Each year, the Utah Alliance for Arts and Humanities Education (UAAHE) honors two teachers and two administrators, on elementary and secondary levels, who have demonstrated leadership and support for the study of the arts and humanities in their schools. Awards are formally given out at a time and place of the award-winner's choosing, and winners' names are submitted to the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., (the UAAHE's sponsor) for consideration to receive national awards.

This year's winners are: Russell Germer, elementary teacher; Robyn Mousley-Lujan, secondary teacher; Shauna Eccles, elementary principal; and Robert Goulding, secondary principal.Eccles has been principal at Grandview Elementary in Ogden since 1981, where her encouragement makes possible a wide-ranging slate of creative, dance, musical and dramatic arts activities.

Goulding is principal at Hurricane High School in the Washington District, where during the past six years he has encouraged music, dance, drama and visual arts, often with prize-winning results.
