Michael Jordan, who led the Chicago Bulls to the best record in the Eastern Conference, was named NBA Player of the Month for April on Wednesday.

Jordan averaged 35.0 points for the month, finishing the season with a 31.5 points per game average and his fifth scoring championship. He also averaged 5.7 rebounds and 4.8 assists as the Bulls finished the season with a 61-21 record.The only other player to lead the NBA in scoring as many times as Jordan was Wilt Chamberlain, who won seven straight scoring titles from 1960-1966.

Also nominated for Player of the Month were Jordan's teammate, Scottie Pippen, Minnesota's Tony Campbell, Scott Skiles of Orlando, San Antonio's David Robinson and Karl Malone of Utah.
