A Clearfield man facing trial next week on two first-degree felony sex abuse charges pleaded guilty to one charge Tuesday in a 2nd District Court plea negotiation.

Keith G. Williams, 35, pleaded guilty to attempted sodomy upon a child, a first-degree felony that carries a prison term of five years to life. He was charged with two counts of sodomy upon a child, first-degree felonies that carry minimum mandatory prison terms of five, 10, or 15 years.He had been scheduled for trial on the two charges Wednesday, May 1. Williams admitted to an incident involving a boy under 14 that occurred between January and June of 1988, according to defense attorney Jo Carol Nesset-Sale.

Judge Rodney S. Page set sentencing for May 21.
