Geoff Wertzberger has been named director of the Utah Department of Health's bureau of HIV/AIDs prevention and control.

He has been acting director of the bureau since it was formed in December 1990."I am please to have someone with Geoff's experience in communicable disease and HIV/AIDS control in this position," said Doug Vilnius, director of the division of community and health services.

Wertzberger received an undergraduate degree from the University of Utah and a master's in health administration from Chapman College. He was a program manager for the department's disease control division and has worked in AIDS control programs in California.
