A real estate transaction involving Snow College and the U.S. Forest Service will enable the Sanpete Ranger District to have new headquarters on the north side of Ephraim.

The transaction has Snow College selling 5.62 acres of Snow Field Station land to the U.S. Forest Service for an undisclosed amount. The Forest Service will construct an office building and a warehouse at the location.Funds for the project will be included in the Forest Service's 1993 fiscal year budget, according to Ranger Tom Shore, the Sanpete Ranger District administrator.

The district offices are located in a rented building at 150 S. Main in Ephraim, with warehousing done at other sites.

The Snow Field Station is engaged primarily in turkey research and didn't need the acreage sold to the Forest Service.

The development of the new Sanpete Ranger District headquarters will have advantages for both the Forest Service and the public, Shore said.
