The Utah Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers has named Barbara R. Wheeler, director of Brigham Young University's School of Social Work, as its Public Service Administrator of the Year.

"Each year, the Utah Chapter honors those who have made outstanding contributions to the goals and standards of our profession," said Marion P. Ayers, co-chair of the nominating committee. "We are pleased to have selected you (Wheeler) to receive this award."A Park City native, Wheeler serves as an associate professor of social work. She has helped develop the School of Social Work, which conducts both undergraduate and graduate programs.

Wheeler, who keeps up a private practice in clinical social work, has completed research projects analyzing the social issues of women and children.

Wheeler received her master's and doctoral degrees in social work from the University of Utah.
