Two 10-year-old boys suspected of setting their school on fire Saturday evening and causing at least $15,000 damage have been referred to juvenile authorities.

Granite School District Police Sgt. Todd Rasmussen said the two were taken into custody Monday afternoon after they told officials they stuck weeds and paper between the seams in aluminum siding on a building at Pleasant Green Elementary School, 8201 W. 2700 South.Investigators found remnants of matchbooks and pieces of burned newspaper in cracks in three places around the school.

Two youths were seen on top of the school building Saturday, but apparently they were not the same two who were taken into custody, Rasmussen said.
