The Plumrose Women's Aerobics Challenge is taking entrants in its national fitness competition.
Besides fitness fame, competitors will be chasing cash, prizes and will have the opportunity to appear in Plumrose Lean Ham advertisements. The competition is sanctioned by the United States Competitive Aerobic Federation.An outgrowth of aerobic dance, competitive aerobics is an emerging sport geared toward fitness. Routines combine compulsory movements such as jumping jacks and high leg-kicks with creativity, showmanship and choreography.
To enter, contestants age 18 and older should send a three-minute videotape of themselves performing standing aerobic exercise and creative choreography. Judges will review the tape and return a scorecard critique. The top performers in each of three entry categories will be invited to compete in regional semifinals, with the winners vying for the national championship. National winners will receive cash prizes of $2,500.
