Some 800 nursing students and faculty from Utah and nearby states are expected Wednesday at the third-annual nursing "Student Awareness Day" at Weber State University.
Naomi Feil, creator of "validation therapy" for disoriented senior citizens, will be the featured speaker. She will tell participants how to provide "sensitive help for the confused elderly."Feil, executive director of the Validation Training Institute Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio, will deliver her presentation between 8:30 a.m. and noon Wednesday, April 24, in the Browning Fine Arts Center. Her methods are recognized as state-of-the-art therapy for senior citizens.
The program is made possible by a Kellogg Grant to the WSU nursing program for development of a gerontological curriculum for nursing students. Information may be obtained by calling the WSU nursing program at 626-6663.
